NDIS exercise physiology in Five Dock

We see plan-managed and self-managed participants. Your first appointment is an hour, and it is a conversation about what you want to be able to do.

Exercise physiology sits under Capacity Building in most plans, usually as Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing. What it buys you is a clinician who builds a movement program around your goals and adjusts it as you go, rather than a set of exercises handed over once.

We work with participants living with neurological conditions, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, intellectual disability, chronic pain and long-term musculoskeletal conditions. If you are not sure whether we are the right fit, ring us and ask. It is a short conversation and it costs nothing.

Getting started

How it works, step by step

You do not need a referral, and you do not need to have any of this worked out before you ring.

Check how your plan is managed

Plan-managed and self-managed participants can book with us directly. If you are agency-managed (NDIA-managed) we are not able to claim against your plan, because we are not an NDIS-registered provider. Ring us anyway and we will tell you straight away rather than after an appointment.

Book the first appointment

It runs an hour. We talk about what is difficult day to day, what you would like to be doing, and what has been tried before. There is some physical assessment, at whatever level suits you on the day.

You get a program and a report

A written program you can actually follow, and a report for your plan manager or support coordinator setting out what we recommend and why. If a review is coming up, tell us and we will write it in time.

We adjust as you go

Follow-up appointments are where most of the value is. Programs get changed when they are too hard, too easy, or aimed at the wrong thing.

What we can do

What exercise physiology looks like for a participant

The word most people arrive with is capacity: being able to do more of what you want to do, with less help. In practice that is usually strength, balance, walking distance, getting up from a chair or off the floor, managing fatigue, or keeping a condition from progressing faster than it has to.

We have an anti-gravity treadmill at Five Dock, which takes a set proportion of your bodyweight off you while you walk. For participants who cannot yet take their full weight through a leg, or who fatigue quickly, it makes walking practice possible sooner than it otherwise would be. It is not right for everybody and we will tell you if it is not.

Support workers and family are welcome

Bring whoever you want. If a support worker is going to be running the program with you day to day, it is far better that they are in the room while we set it up than reading it off a sheet afterwards.

Common questions

Questions we get asked

Do I need a referral for NDIS exercise physiology?
No. You can book directly. What we do need is to know how your plan is managed, and roughly what your goals say.
Can you see agency-managed participants?
No. We are not an NDIS-registered provider, so agency-managed plans cannot be claimed against us. Plan-managed and self-managed participants are fine.
How much does it cost?
We charge at the NDIS price limit for exercise physiology. Your plan manager pays us directly, so there is nothing for you to pay on the day.
Can you write a report for my plan review?
Yes. Tell us when the review is and we will have it ready before it. There is a separate appointment type for report writing.
Do you do home visits?
Andrew does home visits across the Inner West. Ring us and ask, because it depends on where you are and what day suits.

Not sure if this is claimable on your plan?

Ring (02) 8054 3775, or book a free 15 minute phone call. Tell us how your plan is managed and what your goals say, and we will tell you where you stand.
